Visalia Mayor Jesus Gamboa

The Visalia Chapter is located in the Central San Joaquin Valley and is a vibrant  member of the American GI Forum Family. Visalia known as the gateway to the Sequoia National Park which is known for the oldest living things - -no not G.  I. Forum members, but the redwood trees that are over 5,000 years old.

Programs and activities include the Scholarship fund raising New Years Eve Dance held annually at the Civic auditorium in downtown Visalia.  Visalia made local history with the first Latino elected to the Visalia City Council, former chairman and active Forumeer the Honorable Jesus Gamboa. Adelante Raza!!  As a side note on the political agenda, the Central Valley Voter Registration Drive has involved the whole San Joaquin Valley to provide immigration orientation and a massive voter registraion drive valley wide. The 1993 AGIF state convention took place in Visalia and attracted over 500 attendees, it also generated in excess of $70,000 in conference revenue.  One more time - - Adelante Raza
