Santa Maria resident and Army National Guard Spc. Adrian Heredia, returned home to a gathering of approximately 30 supporters on Friday, January 20, 2012.

The Santa Maria native, who deployed to Afghanistan in August of last year, was wounded and has spent the past two months in rehabilitation.

It was close to midnight when a group of sympathizers gathered to welcome Adrian home. The organizers of the event, Welcome Home Troops, accompanied by Veterans and members of the American GI Forum, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, AMVETS, and other friends, welcomed Spc. Heredia with flags, gifts, and lots of hugs.
