The American GI Forum and the
National Veterans Outreach Program (NVOP) will receive a $1.35
million grant to provide job training to veterans in San Antonio.
U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, made the announcement on
Monday.
The U.S. Department of Commerce's Economic Development
Administration is supplying the funds. The money will go toward
building a job-training and work-therapy center in San Antonio. The
project is expected to create 115 jobs.

The center should be able to address
the needs of homeless and disabled veterans in the city.
"This is a welcome investment to help expand job
opportunities for San Antonio veterans," Cornyn says.
"We have a moral obligation to provide the care and benefits
our veterans deserve. This includes offering assistance to enter the
workforce with increased jobs skills and training."
